Getting started
A complete walk through making one page: create it, add a heading, some text, a picture and a button, check it on a phone, publish it and put it in the menu. It takes about ten minutes.
The address fills itself in from the title.
A new page starts as a draft. Nobody else can see it until you publish it, so take your time.
Everything on a page is a block. A Section is a band across the page that holds other blocks, so start with one.
Drag blocks from the list on the left onto the page.
While you drag, a green line shows where the block will land. If the line turns red, it can't go there: move a little and try again.
Most visitors will see your page on a phone. At the top right of the editor are four screen buttons: Phone, Tablet, Laptop and Desktop. Click the phone and the page redraws exactly as a phone shows it, columns stacked and all. You can keep editing while it's on the phone view.
Click Laptop or Desktop to go back. See The page editor for more.
Your work saves itself as you go: the top bar says Saving…, then Saved with the time. Saving is not the same as publishing. Visitors only see the page once you publish it.
From now on, any change you make shows Unpublished changes until you press Publish changes. See Publishing, drafts and history.
A new page is set to appear in the site menu, so in most cases it joined the menu the moment you published it. To check or change that, click the Settings tab at the top left of the editor:
If your site's menu has been arranged on the Menu screen, changes to these two settings wait there until you publish the menu. The Settings tab tells you when that's the case. See The site menu.
