Running the site
Your site sends emails to you, your customers and your visitors. The Emails screen shows every one of them, lets you change their wording and send yourself a copy.
The list on the left groups the emails by who gets them: To: Team (you and your staff), To: Customer, To: Visitor, To: Guest and To: Member. Click one to see it on the right, with its Subject above it.
Every email, previewed with sample data.
You only see emails for the parts of Cairn your site runs. Every site has the Test email and Staff: reset your password. The others come with their module:
Each preview is drawn with made-up sample data, so nothing in it is a real customer and its links open nothing. Use desktop and phone above the preview to see it at either width.
Press Send it to me to get a real copy in your own inbox. It always goes to the email address of the account you're signed in with; there is no way to send a preview to anyone else.
To check the site can send email at all, use Send a test email on the Settings General tab. You can type any address there.
The emails customers, guests and form senders receive can be reworded. Below the preview of one of them you'll find Wording, with boxes for parts such as the Subject, Heading, Opening line, Closing line and Sign-off.
Emails are drawn in your site's own colours and fonts, taken from the active theme. The email's header colour, background, logo size and width are set in the theme editor's Emails tab; see Themes.
Emails use your site logo. If that logo is an SVG file, upload a PNG or JPG under Email logo on this screen, because Gmail and Outlook don't show SVG images. You can also use it for a version of your logo made for a dark email header. With no usable logo, emails show your site name as text.
The contact line at the foot of each email comes from Business details in Settings; see Settings.
When you reply to a form submission or a lead-capture enquiry, your reply goes straight to the visitor who sent it, as long as they gave an email address. Replies to the emails your customers get go to the address the site sends from, which is set up by whoever installed your site.
