How to sell things on your site: turning a catalogue into your products, setting prices, options and stock, building the shop page, and what your customers see from the basket to the payment.
The shop is a module. Whoever set up your site switches it on, and it only works alongside the catalogue. When it is on you will see a Shop group in the sidebar with Orders, Stocktake and Shipping, and a Shop tab in Settings.
Payments are taken by Stripe. The Stripe account is connected on the server by whoever set up your site, not by you. You can check it in Settings → Shop → Payments & shipping: the Stripe panel says Live — taking real payments, Test mode or Not ready, and lists what is missing.
If the panel says Not ready, or you want to connect a different Stripe account, ask whoever set up your site.
There is no separate product list. Your products are the items in a catalogue that you mark as for sale, so their pictures, categories and pages are the shop.
Every item in that catalogue now has a Selling card in its editor. An item only goes on sale once you press Put on sale on that card and the item is published.
Open an item and scroll to Selling. For a simple product, fill in Price, and if you like Was (an old price, shown crossed out as a sale), SKU and Weight (g). The weight is only needed if you charge postage by weight (see Shipping).
If you sell it in sizes or pack sizes, tick Sold in more than one option (sizes, pack sizes…). Type what the options are called in What the options are called (for example "Size"), then press Add option for each one. Every option has its own price, was-price, SKU, weight and stock.
Stock works two ways, per option. Choose In stock or Sold out to flip it by hand without counting. Choose Count stock… to type an exact number: it then sells out by itself at 0 and goes down with every sale. Settings → Shop → New products’ stock decides which of the two a new option starts with.
Changes on the card are saved with the rest of the item. Take off sale removes the price and options when you next save.

Your shop is an ordinary page with a Catalogue grid block on it, pointed at your products catalogue. Add the block in the page editor and pick the catalogue. Tiles show the price, "from" when options cost different amounts, and badges such as Sold out or Sale.
If Catalogue grid is missing from the block list, turn it on in Settings → CMS → Optional blocks.
In the block's settings, Visitor toolbar adds tools for shoppers. All are off until you tick them:
Each product has its own page, reached by clicking its tile. It shows the pictures, the option picker, how many are available if you count stock, and an Add to basket button.
Put only one Catalogue grid with a toolbar on a page. Two would share the same search and filters.
Shoppers need a way back to their basket. The usual way is the Basket block in your header: a bag icon with a count that links to the basket. Its settings let you change the Label, show it on phones too, and show Sign in / Account beside it when customer accounts are on.
If you would rather the basket appears as an item in your menu, turn on Basket link (shop) in the Nav block's settings instead. Use one or the other, not both. See Logo, icons, header and footer for editing the header.
The basket lists each item with a quantity stepper and a Remove link. Shipping shows as "At checkout", and if a zone makes delivery free over an amount it says how much more to spend. Checkout takes them on:
When checkout starts, the stock is held for a short time (Basket hold (minutes) in Settings, 15 by default), so two people can never both pay for the last one. If something sells out while it sits in a basket, it is taken out and the shopper is told.
The Shop tab in Settings has five cards. Save with Save settings at the bottom, as with the rest of Settings.
